This is a power-operated office chair made by combining a brand new donor office chair with a seat removed from the driver side of an authentic Audi A6 3.0 Quattro. The side airbag has been removed. The leather has been cleaned and conditioned and is in very nice overall condition as you can see in the pictures above. The seat is upholstered in its original black leather. There are minor wear spots on the plastic compartment lid at the front, but the chair shows very well. It will be shipped partially disassembled and will require about 10 minutes to put together. Only simple hand tools are required.

This chair retains the Audi's power reclining mechanism, power front tilt, power rear tilt and power 4-way lumbar support. There are also manual 4-way adjustments for the headrest, infinite tilt lock on the seat base, seat base height adjustment, and 4-way adjustable armrests. The power functions are adjusted by pushing a button on the side of the seat just exactly as you would if you were sitting inside an Audi A6. The front and rear tilt and backrest motors will stop every approximately 1-2 seconds; at which time the button must be released and pressed again to continue operating. Presumably this is because the electronics are looking for signals normally provided to/by the car. An appropriate battery and charger is included with the chair to power it. The battery is expected to last at least four months between charges and to have an overall life of at least eight years. The battery is easily removed for charging and the chair can be used while the battery is out.

This is a very unique item that is near impossible to find anywhere and would be the ultimate office chair for an enthusiast. There is a signed and dated "Rebirth Certificate" attached to the underside of the chair that details by year, make, model and VIN exactly which car the seat is from and ensures its uniqueness. I put together the first of these chairs after having a couple of store-bought office chairs with foam cushions that quickly became flattened and useless and made it feel like I was sitting on a park bench at work all day. Automobile seats are designed for long-distance comfort and I thought they might make a great office chair. It turns out they do. They provide all-day comfort in the office just like they do in the cars. They typically use a combination of padding and steel springs rather than a single piece of foam over plywood or plastic like most office chairs and they simply don't degrade like regular office chairs. I've been using a Mercedes chair in my office since August 2014 and couldn't be happier. One day a coworker saw my new chair, said it was the coolest thing she's ever seen and thought I should try making them for other people too, so here we are. I've learned a few things by using one of these chairs daily and by having built many others. So, I've upgraded the design of this chair as a result.

The weight capacity of this chair is 300 pounds and the front edge of the seat cushion can be adjusted from 19 inches to approximately 25 inches.
